Newspapers in Wilson County
There have been many newspapers printed in Wilson County since the county was established in 1855. These included dailies, weeklies, and bi-weeklies. As towns came and went, some newspapers lasted only a few years and some endured for quite some time. John S. Gilmore established one of the earliest newspapers, first as The Guilford Citizen in 1870, then the Neodesha Citizen, and finally the Wilson County Citizen, published in Fredonia. In 1961 The Gilmore family sold the Citizen to Joseph and Rita Relph and the Relph family continues to operate the paper.
